Ownership Strategy Session
An Ownership Strategy Session is great first (sometimes only needed) step for an owner or family to gain understanding into the core issues surrounding making an decision about the future ownership of their business. We begin with some high level discovery and data collection. From there, we have a half-day meeting to discuss findings and work though issues such as, your personal and business goals, family concerns, business value creation, personal and business risks, red flags, and potential exit options. Essentially, we will work through key Q&A and brainstorm ideas, consequences, and suggestions.
After the session a complete write up of action items, concerns, and guidance is created. The results of this strategy session will call out key points and considerations which will make up your Owner’s Policy Statement. Much like a financial advisor would use an Investment Policy Statement, this OPS will be you guide moving forward as you explore and plan for various exit options.
A similar half-day session can also be conducted for management teams or family leaders.
Exit & Value Mentor
This next level is for a “deeper dive” and continued guidance at set intervals (monthly or quarterly) to address key areas of concern and create the next set of action items. This stage is “coached assistance” in implementing (or adjusting ) your Owner’s Policy Statement. Various other Advisory services such as Value Builder or the Family Business Assessment may be utilized as needed. Typical engagements run 6-12 months.
Exit Value Advisory Board
This option moves beyond the mentor program to combine talents with either your current advisors or other trusted experts in our network. This Exit Value Advisory board will meet with you (and family, management, etc.) quarterly to discuss and address topics surrounding your eventual “Exit”. Topics such as de-risking, value enhancement, governance, business performance, etc. will be covered over the course of one year. Each meeting will have a focus topic determined by early assessments and progress and the Advisors in attendance will be from those specialties.
Targeted advice in person or by phone to address a specific topic or concern.
